The Farm to Fuel initiative began in 2006 and tasks the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services with deploying renewable energy measures, enhancing the market for biomass from Florida-grown crops, and educating the public about the benefits of using renewable energy and alternative fuels. Chapter 570.841 of Title XXXV of the 2022 Florida Statutes grants authority to the department to implement the initiative, which includes several programs such as the Farm to Fuel Grant Program, the Farm Renewable and Efficiency Demonstration, the Research and Development Bioenergy Grant Program, and the Florida Energy Technology Cost Share Program — Efficiency and Renewable Improvements in Commercial Aquaculture (ERICA).
